Melida is a little girl in Guatemala. She has three siblings and lives with her family in a rural farming community. Melida's father is unemployed and struggles with alcoholism. Her mother works as a merchant in the city; her income varies, and she needs help to provide for the children's education. Melida dreams of becoming a nurse one day.
