Alis is an active and joyful young girl living with her parents, one brother and one sister in a hill region of Thailand. Her parents farm government land on the hillside. They finished grade nine in high school. They are now in debt and paying high interest after 3-4 years of drought and irregular weather. They struggle to make a daily living because they are dependent on crops to sell. The family lives in a wood house with the bathroom on the outside. In the village there is a small convenient shop and a health care center. Families in this area struggle with issues associated with crime, gangs, drugs or alcoholism. It is a dangerous place for young children, especially girls. With support Alis may be able to realize her dream of becoming a teacher when she receives educational support, regular healthcare, and Bible studies at the childcare center.
