Anderson is a kind boy in Guatemala who lives with his parents, sister, and brother. His father works hard as a technician to support the family as best he can despite being in debt. His mother is a housewife who takes care of the children. Anderson’s favorite subject in school is Math. He likes to play soccer and wants to be a mechanic when he grows up. Las Vistas Child Development Center
The Las Vistas Child Development Center comes alongside families to help meet the needs of local children. Children are taught in school five days a week. Cooks at the center provide the children with delicious meals and they have access to safe drinking water. Children learn life skills at the center and receive counseling when needed. Additionally, the staff leads devotions each day and conducts Bible classes twice a week.
Guatemala is the most populated country in Central America. The majority religion is Christianity and is primarily Roman Catholic. Families in Guatemala suffer from many difficult circumstances such as drug use, alcoholism, physical violence, broken homes, and malnourishment. Often children are forced to begin working at an early age. Many families are extremely poor, live in small dilapidated homes and don’t make enough to provide for their physical needs.
