Jefferson is a sweet, active young boy in Guatemala who lives with his parents, two sisters, and brother. His father works as a tailor in their village, but his income is very low and providing for a family of six is difficult. Necessities such as food, medicine, clothing, and an education are not always available due to this lack of funds. Jefferson desires to continue going to school and he wants to become a P.E. teacher when he grows up because P.E. is his favorite subject! By coming alongside Jefferson as his sponsor, you can help him continue his education without his parents worrying about school fees. Additionally, at the Getsemani Child and Youth Development Center, Jefferson will receive nutritious meals, medical care, and a safe place to play with children his age. Most importantly, Jefferson will learn Bible stories and will be discipled as he grows in his knowledge of God. Thank you for investing in Jefferson’s life during this critical phase of childhood!

Guatemala is the most populated country in Central America. The majority religion is Christianity and is primarily Roman Catholic. Families in Guatemala suffer from many difficult circumstances such as drug use, alcoholism, physical violence, broken homes, and malnourishment. Often children are forced to begin working at an early age. Many families are extremely poor, live in small dilapidated homes and don’t make enough to provide for their physical needs.
