Jeremias is an active child who dreams of being a doctor when he grows up. He lives in Guatemala with his grandmother. His father abandoned him and his mother before he was born, and his mother passed away shortly after. Jeremias suffers from harelip and is attending therapy for the emotional abuse he suffers. He is constantly made fun of and the bullying has made him feel sick. His grandmother supports him by washing clothes for other people, but her income is not enough to support the child. They live in a house built with adobe walls, tin roofing, and a cement floor. They cook their food over an open fire. Jeremias is a sweet and gentle boy who desperately needs the help of a sponsor. Not only will he receive educational, medical and nutritional assistance but he will be taught about his Lord and Savior. In addition, Jeremias will discover that Jesus created him in His image, and that healing can be found in laying his burdens at the feet of Jesus. Thank you for praying for and supporting this young child. Letting him know that you believe in him will be a great encouragement to Jeremias.

Guatemala is the most populated country in Central America. The majority religion is Christianity and is primarily Roman Catholic. Families in Guatemala suffer from many difficult circumstances such as drug use, alcoholism, physical violence, broken homes, and malnourishment. Often children are forced to begin working at an early age. Many families are extremely poor, live in small dilapidated homes and don’t make enough to provide for their physical needs.
