Jonatan is a thirteen year old boy in the third grade. He lives in a small village in Peru with his parents and one sister. An older brother has been in Lima for a number of months under treatment for a blood disease. His father has a back issue that prevents him from doing steady work; his mother is a housewife. The family tries to plant and harvest some food but have very little land available for their use. The parents are unable to attend church regularly because their village is such a distance from one. They are so grateful for the spiritual and physical support given to Jonatan at the Huaylas Childcare Center. Jonatan’s favorite subject is mathematics; he dreams of one day becoming a professional. In his free time he likes to play soccer.

Huaylas Valley Childcare Center
The Huaylas Valley Child Development Center partners with a local church to minister to poor children. The church facilities are used to talk with children’s parents about education, nutrition, and the truth of Christianity. Every week children eat nutritious meals at the center. The center staff help children with their homework as well as provide supplies and clothes so that the children can attend school. Lastly, the center staff teach from God’s Word and disciple these children in their faith.
