Kerlyn lives with her parents and uncle in Guatemala. Her parents have an elementary education, and her father works on the land to support the family. Kerlyn and her family live in their own house built with block walls, a tin roof, and a cement floor. They have a bathroom but do not have running water or electricity. The get water from a nearby river and cook their meals over a fire. Kerlyn’s favorite subject in school is math, and one day she would like to become a teacher! Her favorite sport is basketball and she greatly enjoys the Bible lessons at the childcare center. Thank you for your sharing your love and support with Kerlyn through sponsorship!
Guatemala is the most populated country in Central America. The majority religion is Christianity and is primarily Roman Catholic. Families in Guatemala suffer from many difficult circumstances such as drug use, alcoholism, physical violence, broken homes, and malnourishment. Often children are forced to begin working at an early age. Many families are extremely poor, live in small dilapidated homes and don’t make enough to provide for their physical needs.
