Mark is a nice little boy living with his parents and two sisters in Uganda. The parents are unable to generate enough income to support the family?s basic needs and school fees. Mark likes group games and enjoys reading. In the future he dreams of being a doctor. Attending the childcare center will allow him the opportunity to gain an education, have nutritional food, and adequate health care.

Bukoto Child Development Center

The Bukoto Child Development Center partners with a local church to evangelize, disciple, and mentor children. Staff provide counseling, mentorship, life skills training, and biblical teaching. Children receive meals and nutritional supplements to support their health. At the center, the children are taught music, reading skills and arts and crafts. Above all, children learn the truths of God’s Word and are encouraged to grow in their faith.

Uganda is a landlocked country in Africa. The majority of the population is Christian and there are a large number of Muslims. Witchcraft and animism are still believed and practiced in certain areas as well. Poverty is rampant throughout the country as well as a lack of education. Sickness and disease are prevalent and many lack the means to receive medical treatment. Often children suffer from malnutrition. Many struggle with drug use and alcoholism. It’s common for families to be torn apart due to divorce and separation.
