Marlon is a smart and well-behaved boy living in Guatemala. Unfortunately, Marlon lives in an area where boys start drinking alcohol at a young age. His father works in the capital city as a security agent and only sees his family when he is on vacation. His income is not enough to support his family. Unfortunately, there are no good male role models in his community. His mother wants the best for her children and takes them to church so they can learn about Christ’s love. Marlon is a good student, particularly when it comes to math. He dreams of being a P.E. teacher and coaching soccer. Because of you, Marlon will be able to attend the local AMG child and youth development center, where his basic needs will be met, and where he will be surrounded by a loving Christian staff. He will be given a safe place to grow physically, academically and spiritually. Thank you for helping this struggling family.
Getsemani Child Development Center
The Getsemani Child Development Center is a place where children experience the love of Christ. The local church provides the center with materials, furniture and the equipment needed to function efficiently. At the center, children receive a quality education and nutritious meals. Children also regularly participate in songs of worship and biblical readings. Finally, staff teach biblical truths and disciple children in their walks with Christ.
Guatemala is the most populated country in Central America. The majority religion is Christianity and is primarily Roman Catholic. Families in Guatemala suffer from many difficult circumstances such as drug use, alcoholism, physical violence, broken homes, and malnourishment. Often children are forced to begin working at an early age. Many families are extremely poor, live in small dilapidated homes and don’t make enough to provide for their physical needs.
