Potta lives with his mother in father in a small Hindu community. They live in a small shanti-house made out of thatched materials. Potta’s father is a day laborer and has a hard time finding consistent work. He also struggles with alcoholism and therefore his relationship with his wife and Potta suffers. Potta’s mother rarely finds work. Because of their inability to maintain consistent employment, they have been unable to send Potta to school. Their hope is for AMG to find a sponsor for Potta and for him to be able to attend AMG’s boarding school. Potta loves learning about science and hopes to become a businesswoman or a teacher one day. Your sponsorship would mean so much to him and his family.

India is a large country in South Asia. The majority of the population follows Hinduism and Islam, but there are many Christians as well. Many residents are very poor and suffer from diseases such as HIV/AIDS and leprosy. Alcoholism is prevalent and children often come from broken families due to divorce. India sometimes experiences droughts and intense heat making the need for clean water very important. The caste system was technically abolished, but its remnants still affect many in society today.
