Sudarat is a kind young girl in the Thailand who enjoys mathematics and dreams of becoming a teacher when she grows up. Sudarat lived in a dangerous tribe and was at risk of being forced into child laborer without intervention and with no access to education. Though her mother and step-father love her and desire a good life for her, their modest income will not provide for all of Sudarat’s needs. At the Living Stream Hostel, Sudarat has a safe place to learn and grow and receives nutritious food, comfortable accommodations, and medical care from a loving staff. Sudarat needs a sponsor to help meet her deepest needs.
Living Stream Hostel
The Living Stream Hostel provides hope for children in need of help. Every child lives at the hostel, which provides them with practical conveniences like running water and electricity. Nutritious meals are served three times a day. Children also receive education, Christian teaching, life skills training, leadership training and mentorship by the staff. Every morning the day begins with a devotion so that the children can learn about Jesus Christ.
Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country, and many people also believe in the spiritual realm. Children from poor families go to state-run schools where teaching is sub-standard. Their parents normally have little education and cannot be relied upon to help them. School children seldom reach the ninth grade and most end up working in family farms. Since the people have very low or no education, they lack basic knowledge of life skills like personal hygiene, household management, family planning and balancing budgets.
