Inter-Island Child Development Center

Inter-Island Child Development Center on the Island of Magsaysay in the Samar region of the Philippines is about fifteen miles from the mainland, and can only be reached by boat. This is a very poor area, where the diet consists of rice, fish, and root crops. The people cook with wood from the forest and use oil or kerosene lamps for light. Around two-thirds of the children are malnourished, resulting in many physical problems and a lack of energy. The religion of those on Magsaysay Island was mixed with tradition and superstition before AMG sent national worker, Vedasto Subiaga, to minister to the people. Now, through the kindness of donors, a church has been built, allowing Christians to meet on Sundays to worship God. Pastor Subiaga also started a childcare center, which provides the children with clothing, food, medical care, and spiritual guidance. It is such a blessing to know that these now have their physical needs met and have been presented the opportunity to follow Christ.
