Sandy Gonzalez Quiroa

Sandy is a young girl living in Guatemala with her parents and her little sister. Sandy was diagnosed with heart disease and is undergoing treatment. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she was unable to make a medical appointment for a year. In addition, Sandy's mother suffers from diabetes. Their combined medical expenses make their living conditions incredibly difficult. They now live in a gang-run area after they were evacuated due to the nearby volcano eruption in 2018. They are very homesick and miss the tranquility of their old village. Sandy likes math and playing with dolls. She dreams of being a doctor so she can help other children like her.
