National Leader FAQs

What is involved in sponsoring a national leader?
National leader sponsorship includes prayer and financial support for your national leader. It costs $50 a month/$600 a year to sponsor a national leader. Equally important is the prayer support that your national leader receives from you. This unique partnership is an important part of a national leader’s ministry.
Can I write letters to my national leader?
Yes! We encourage you to write to your national leader. The letters you write will help build a valuable relationship as you come alongside your national leader to encourage them in their ministry. Your national leader partner will send personal letters and ministry updates to you at least twice a year.
Can I send my national leader extra gifts at Christmas and birthdays?
Yes. We do ask that you send money and not gifts-in-kind because of the difficulties involved in shipping packages. Other gifts that are designated for family birthdays, specific ministry projects or personal needs are welcome as well. We encourage you to contact us at 1-800-251-7206, ext. 421, to talk about how best to make and apply your gift.
How will my national leader benefit from my support?
Your support is intended to supplement the income and ministry needs of your sponsored national leader. For some national leaders, sponsorship funds enable them to buy basic necessities like food and clothing or to pay their children’s school fees. Other national leaders may have enough funds for their personal needs, but welcome the sponsorship assistance to print materials, hold special ministry events, or purchase supplies. In either case, your support is a significant contribution to the effectiveness of a national leader’s ministry.
Does each national leader only have one sponsor?
Not necessarily. Many factors help define a meaningful support level for each national leader, including the cost of living for the country in which they serve. Therefore, some national leaders are assigned more sponsorships than others. We work closely with our field directors to assess the needs of each national leader.
Can I give a one-time gift to a national leader?
Yes! One-time ministry gifts are welcome for all of the national leaders who partner with AMG International. Each and every gift is a valuable contribution to the effectiveness of a national leader’s ministry.
What happens if I need to discontinue my sponsorship?
We understand that circumstances change and sometimes it may be necessary for you to discontinue your sponsorship. In this situation, please notify us and we will begin looking for another sponsor for your national leader.
How long should my sponsorship last?
While we ask that your sponsorship commitment last at least one year, it is up to you. Sponsorship programs help AMG International provide support to national leaders until their ministry reaches a self-sustaining point or the national leader has completed their term of service. Many of our sponsors have enjoyed lengthy, fruitful relationships with the same national leader; others have had the opportunity to assist multiple successors.
Can I meet my sponsored national leader?
AMG International sponsors short-term mission trips around the world. Frequently, we will go to places where sponsored national leaders are serving. Please call us at 1-800-251-7206, ext. 421, to find out if we have plans to send a short-term mission team to your sponsored national leader’s community in the near future. Short-term trips are a great way to share the love of Jesus and minister alongside the national leader you have chosen to sponsor.
What countries can I choose a national leader from?
Currently AMG International partners with national leaders in 26 countries. You can click here to view the majority of national leaders that are available for sponsorship. However, for security reasons, not all of our national leaders are individually represented on the site. How do I sponsor a national leader?
If you are ready to sponsor a national leader now, please write, call, or click here to select a particular national leader. Or, if you would like us to assign you the national leader in greatest need, contact us. As soon as we receive your first donation of $50, we will send you the photograph, biographical information and ministry testimony of your national leader. Child Sponsorship FAQs
Below are the most common questions we receive about child sponsorships. If you have additional questions, please call us at 1-800-251-7206, ext. 421.
Why should I sponsor a child through AMG International?
By sponsoring a child in need through AMG International, you will oftentimes be providing him or her with daily meals, clothes and a sound education, along with the opportunity to know God and have a personal relationship with Him. In short, you will be giving your sponsored child hope for a brighter tomorrow.
What is involved in sponsoring a child?
Child sponsorship includes prayer and financial support for your child. AMG International has three tiers of sponsorship, with the most common one being Tier 1, which costs $32 a month/$384 a year. (See the “Child Sponsorship” page for a complete list of the sponsorship tiers.) Equally important is the prayer support your child receives from you.
Can I write letters to my child?
Yes! We encourage you to write to your child. The letters will help build a valuable relationship that your child will always remember. Usually twice a year, your child will write to you.
How can I write to my child?
You can write a letter and mail it to AMG International, or you can create an online account and write to your child, as well as your child’s development center, from your account page. (Please note that all communications to and from donors come to the home office for processing. No direct communication with the child is permitted for the security and safety of children, donors and field staff.)
Can I send my child extra gifts for Christmas and birthdays?
Yes! We receive gifts for sponsored children, from toys to books to clothing. However, keep in mind that once shipping, duties and other expenses are included, even something as small as a box of crayons and a coloring book could cost over $50 to send to the field!
If you plan to give a special gift:
- Consider a financial gift. This allows the staff from the child development center to first consult with the child and their family about needs or wants and to purchase a gift locally. Please feel free to express any preferences you have regarding the item(s) to be purchased. Giving in this way is a double blessing—you’ll be getting your gift into your child’s hands faster and saving valuable ministry resources! Remember, you can give online and express your wishes from your online account.
- Before sending a physical gift, please contact AMG International’s office staff to determine the feasibility and cost of delivery. Gifts can be transferred to some countries more easily than others.
How much is appropriate to give my child for special gifts, Christmas and birthdays?
We recommend a minimum of $15, with most gifts ranging from $25-$50. Please do not exceed $100 for any single gift. If you have a unique situation, you may contact the sponsorship department at 1-800-251-7206 and a staff member will discuss this with you.
Can I give more to improve my child's living conditions?
AMG International’s mission is to advance the Gospel with compassion, which means our child sponsorship program aims to recognize children’s needs and respond purposefully in ways that will be helpful. Our child development centers are designed to impact a child mentally, physically, emotionally and, most of all, spiritually. This means the sponsorship program provides children with nutrition, medical care, personal development, Bible study and spiritual training. AMG International does not facilitate the building of homes or major lifestyle changes for families connected to AMG International. This type of involvement from outside sources often creates serious problems for the family and their local community.
How will my sponsored child benefit from my support?
Children under the care of AMG International receive a hot, nutritious meal and a snack each day, along with educational opportunities, tutoring, or access to medical care, if needed. Child development center staff members encourage children to take advantage of opportunities to learn new skills. Children are given new clothes and shoes once or twice a year. Each child is given a clear presentation of the Gospel, with the hope that they will become a Christian and reach his or her world for Christ.
How much of my sponsorship funds go to my child?
AMG International has discovered that pooling sponsorship funds maximizes the benefits for each child, giving them access to more services than any single sponsorship could provide. Your sponsorship dollars are combined with those of your fellow sponsors so that every child receives uninterrupted care even if a sponsor misses sending their sponsorship donation on any given month. Your faithful giving and that of every sponsor will ensure the maximum benefits for your child as well as for all the children in the child sponsorship program.
What happens if I need to discontinue my sponsorship?
We understand that circumstances change and it may sometimes be necessary for you to discontinue your sponsorship. In this situation, notify us and we will begin looking for another sponsor for your child.
How long should my sponsorship last?
Most of the children served by AMG International’s sponsorship program rely on sponsorship support for their well-being, which is why we ask our sponsors for a commitment of at least one year. However, we understand that this may not always be possible. When a sponsorship lapses or is discontinued, AMG International will seek out another sponsor rather than discontinue or interrupt the care for that child. Sponsors wishing to extend their relationship with a sponsored child beyond age 18 may do so if the child continues their affiliation with AMG International either as a Bible student or National Leader.
Can I meet my sponsored child?
AMG International sponsors short-term mission trips around the world. Frequently, we will go to countries where childcare centers are located. When we go to the country where your child lives, we encourage you to participate in that trip. Short-term trips are a great way to share the love of Jesus and meet your sponsored child face-to-face. Please call us at 1-800-251-7206, ext. 421, to find out if we have plans to send a short-term mission team to your sponsored child’s youth development center in the near future. We would love to have you join us.
What countries can I choose a child from?
Currently AMG International is providing childcare to children in Bangladesh, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Peru, the Philippines, Thailand and Uganda.
How do I sponsor a child?
If you are ready to sponsor a child now, write, call, or click here to select a particular child. Or, if you would like us to assign you the child in greatest need, simply write to or call us. Mission Adventures FAQs
How old do I have to be to go on a Mission Adventures (MA)?
There are no age requirements for MA team members. All applicants are subject to approval by the MA Team Leader. Minors (under 18 years old) who apply must have a guardian who is at least 21 years old who will also be a participant on the trip. The type of ministry scheduled for a specific trip may preclude a minor’s participation on the trip. Families are encouraged to participate together on MA Teams.
Do you provide training to help prepare me for the trip?
Yes. Appropriate training is provided, covering areas of cultural awareness, support development, spiritual preparation, etc.
What immunizations do I need to have before going on a Mission Adventures?
Immunizations vary from country to country. The Centers for Disease Control has recommendations for all countries. The basic immunizations recommended are Tetanus and Hepatitis A. However, some countries require additional immunizations and medications.
Will AMG International help me to raise funds to pay for the Mission Adventures?
AMG International will provide assistance in writing support letters and developing a biblical understanding of support raising.
What does the trip cost pay for and do I need extra money on the trip?
The trip cost covers all related travel and in-country expenses (air transportation, housing, food, insurance, in-country travel, etc.). You would be responsible for transportation to and from the originating airport, meals in the airport, and any personal items you want to purchase during the trip (snacks, souvenirs, etc.).
When do I need to have my trip paid for and have all my documents sent in to AMG International?
Typically a $100 deposit is due at the time of registration. Half of the balance of the trip is due 75 days prior to departure, and the remaining balance is due 45 days prior to departure. All documents should be submitted 60 days prior to departure.
Can I give money to support a Mission Adventure?
How do I know which trips are open to the general public?
If a trip is organized for a specific church, school or other group, it is typically not “open” for participants outside that group. These designations are reflected on the trip schedule. However, if you have a particular interest in joining one of these teams, you can contact us as some teams are open to additional team members.
How do I register for a trip?
Go to www.amg.managedmissions.com/OurTrips and create a profile (takes about 5 minutes). After you have completed this, you will select the trip you are registering for – and you will fill out an application (takes about 10 minutes). After you complete the registration, an e-mail will be sent to you when you are approved.
How do I upload my documents for the trip?
Log into your account at www.amg.managedmissions.com and click on the trip that you are registered for. (the only trips that will show are ones you have been approved for). In the dropdown list on the left side of the page click on “Tasks and Goals”. This is where you will see a list of documents needed for the trip. Download the document, fill it out and then upload it on the same page.
What do I do if I have applied for my passport but have not received it yet?
You can still begin the registration process for a Mission Adventure, even if you have not yet received your passport. Just leave the passport information blank until you have received your passport. When you do receive your passport, update your profile with your passport information. If you are considering going on a Mission Adventure and do not have a passport, be sure to apply for your passport well in advance of the registration deadline of your chosen trip. Also, if your passport expires within six months of the end of your trip, you will need to renew your passport before registering for a trip.
How do I make an additional payment toward the remaining balance of my trip?
Log into your account at www.amg.managedmissions.com and click on “Fundraising” in the drop down list on the left. At the top of the next page, click on “+ Pay For My Trip”. And follow the instructions to make payment.
HOW DO I SHARE ABOUT MY TRIP ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
Log into your account at www.amg.managedmissions.com and click on “Public Profile” in the drop down list to the left. Click the box “Enable My Public Profile” which will open the ability to edit your “display name”, your URL to send to others, and the description of your trip. Once you have typed your information into these areas – you will be ready to share the URL with others. (note: some teams require public profiles to be approved, so it might take a little while before they are approved)
I cannot log in on the website.
Most likely, you are typing in the wrong password. To reset your password, click “I Forgot My Password” on the login screen. Type in your email and then click “Reset Password.” You will be sent an email with a link to reset your password. It is also possible that you are attempting to log in with an email address other than the one that was used to create the account. If you do not remember the email address associated with the website account, please give us a call at 1-800-251-7206.
A section of my Online Missions Profile will not save.
The pencil icons beside each section indicate whether or not a section has been completed. If there is a “+” sign beside a section, that section is not complete and needs more information. When you attempt to save that particular section, anything that needs to be corrected will be highlighted in red.
My trip registration has been declined.
If your trip registration has been declined, this can mean that your Online Mission Profile is lacking important information, contains obvious errors OR you have registered for a trip for which you do not qualify. You will receive a follow-up email that will give you further instructions or explain why your registration has been denied.
I have been approved for my trip but I am not sure what to do next.
Once you have been approved, you will receive an approval email notification. In that e-mail all of your next steps are listed. If you have not received the approval e-mail, either you were not approved or there was something wrong with the e-mail address that was given. Feel free to contact us to find out what the problem might be.
I cannot scan or upload my documents. Is there another way to send them to AMG International?
If you are not able to upload your documents, you can mail the documents to our home office in Chattanooga, TN. Send your document copies to AMG International, ATTN: Mission Adventure, P.O. Box 182200, Chattanooga, TN 37422, or you can contact ken at email@example.com and e-mail your documents to us.
