Christopher’s testimony is fascinating. He grew up in a poor family without any knowledge of Jesus. Then, as a young man, he happened to read an advertisement in the local newspaper. The “ad” was the gospel message published by our faithful partners at AMG India. The Lord stirred this young man’s heart, and he wrote to our staff. The staff wrote back and told him about Christ, the only One who could fill his hunger and restore hope in his life. Christopher came to know Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior, and, from that day forward, his life was radically transformed. He wanted to serve Him and tell others about Jesus who could fix their broken lives and give them hope for eternity.
But there was a problem. Like so many other young believers on fire for the Lord, he had no theological or practical knowledge by which to serve effectively. How could he share and lead when he barely knew about his new faith? As faithful followers of Christ, the staff at AMG India did not abandon him. They not only shared the gospel with him but helped him receive the training he would need to evangelize his community. Since then, we have continued to invest in Christopher’s life, providing additional training as needed.
We have done the same to equip many other men and women in India, and in numerous other countries around the world, to better serve their churches. Around six out of seven nationals, who have a calling to serve the Lord as pastors, have no formal training for ministry. They want to serve God with all their hearts, but they lack basic knowledge and skills. And that’s why with the help of partners like you, we want to invest in their lives and help reach a lost world with the Good News.
In Romans 10, the Apostle Paul writes, “How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him, whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring Good News of good things!'”
People need to hear the Good News. And, they also need trained pastors who will disciple them and serve their churches, so that lives and communities are transformed for God’s glory. Will you prayerfully partner with us to make this training possible?
