AJ is a gentle and kindhearted little girl in the Philippines. She lives with her parents and two sisters in a single room dwelling. The building is a mix of concrete and plywood. Her father is a repairman, and her mother takes care of the home and her children. They are unable to afford proper meals, so most days they eat plain noodles, providing very little nutritious value. AJs family cannot afford for her to attend school. She is described as very shy but very loving. By sponsoring AJ, you will help provide her with proper nutritious meals, an education, and the good news of Christ. AJ and her family will be blessed to have you come alongside them and help them in their struggles.
Papuri Child Development Center
The Papuri Child Development Center partners with a local church to make Christ known in children’s lives. Every week children are immersed in the Word of God through church services, Bible studies, discipleship meetings, youth group, and devotions. Additionally, children are served nutritious meals and given medical assistance at the center. Center staff are available to mentor, tutor, educate and encourage the children to follow after Christ.
The Philippines is a country that consists of over 7,000 islands in Southeast Asia. It has many active volcanoes and its location and torrential rainfall means that several areas are prone to flooding, typhoons and cyclones. The majority of the population is Roman Catholic, but some people are superstitious and still practice animism. Poverty, alcoholism and widespread drug use plagues their communities. This has led to broken families and abandoned children. There are few consistent job opportunities as well, making it difficult for parents to provide for their families.
