Haiti is known as the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, and ranks among the poorest countries in the world. The extreme poverty in Haiti makes life very difficult for the people, but God is transforming lives there using men and women who are committed to spreading the message of the Gospel. Under the leadership of Pastor Rodne Romeus, AMG’s outreach efforts in Haiti include childcare, Christian schools, medical ministries, leadership training, and other endeavors. Please pray for Pastor Rodne as he leads AMG’s ministries in Haiti and for all the children under AMG’s care there. Special project opportunity: Rodne needs your help Rodne has stage 4, non-Hodgkin’s, B-cell lymphoma. The cancer is wrapped around the spinal cord at the T-10 level with widespread lesions involving both kidneys and his spleen. Rodne has lost his ability to walk and is confined to a wheelchair. Due to the efforts of a very observant and caring doctor here in the U.S., Rodne was brought to the United States for aggressive cancer treatment. He arrived November 2 and began radiation November 4. Rodne has now begun a six-cycle course of chemotherapy which began on December 9, and he will receive this treatment every three weeks. This translates into approximately four-and-a-half months of chemotherapy and then the follow up care to monitor the results. Due to the generosity of a family who has been to Haiti and lives near the hospital where he is being treated, Rodne has a home to stay in during his treatment. His chemotherapy bill, with a 40% discount from the hospital, plus other related expenses are presently over $70,000.00. Billing for his initial hospital stay and radiation treatments are still pending. The hospital is determining what kind of discount they are able to give, if any. Rodne has no medical insurance to cover his treatments and AMG is helping raise funds to meet this need. We trust that you will join us in praying for Rodne and Niclerge as well as supporting them financially in this time of difficulty.

Haiti is a mountainous nation in the Caribbean that shares a border with the Dominican Republic. Haiti is prone to droughts, floods, and hurricanes. The majority religion is Christianity, and over half of the population professes to be Catholic. Voodoo is also practiced by some as well. Unemployment is rampant throughout Haiti with little access to quality jobs. Families also struggle with alcoholism, malnutrition, and insufficient medical care. Because of the extreme poverty, parents struggle to pay for their children’s school fees and usually are not educated themselves.
