Ashly is a sweet little girl who lives with her mother and three sisters in a poor neighborhood of Guatemala City. Ashly’s mother works selling items in the streets and on buses. Her income depends on her sales and she needs for Ashly to have a safe place to be while she works. Ashly’s father’s whereabouts are unknown, and he does not contribute any support for Ashly. Ashly likes to learn and says that she would like to become a teacher when she grows up! She likes to play with her dolls and play with her friends. AMG’s sponsorship program provides Ashly with nutritious food, a safe place to receive an education, and teaching from the Word of God. Thank you for investing in Ashly’s life!
Las Vistas Child Development Center
The Las Vistas Child Development Center comes alongside families to help meet the needs of local children. Children are taught in school five days a week. Cooks at the center provide the children with delicious meals and they have access to safe drinking water. Children learn life skills at the center and receive counseling when needed. Additionally, the staff leads devotions each day and conducts Bible classes twice a week.
Guatemala is the most populated country in Central America. The majority religion is Christianity and is primarily Roman Catholic. Families in Guatemala suffer from many difficult circumstances such as drug use, alcoholism, physical violence, broken homes, and malnourishment. Often children are forced to begin working at an early age. Many families are extremely poor, live in small dilapidated homes and don’t make enough to provide for their physical needs.
