Cher Shou and Mailao Cha are missionaries to Southeast Asia where they seek to train tribal churches for the advance of the Gospel. Although there are some thriving churches in Southeast Asia, many congregations are still in desperate need of spiritual training. The Chas have two primary focuses when training churches. First, they want to equip believers on how to pray, study God’s Word, and live out God’s teachings after the pattern of Christ. Second, they want to equip Christian leaders on how to lead their congregations well including servanthood leadership, shepherding, member care ministry, discerning false doctrine, dealing with the culture and planning effective ministries. “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Colossians 1:28).

Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country, and many people also believe in the spiritual realm. Children from poor families go to state-run schools where teaching is sub-standard. Their parents normally have little education and cannot be relied upon to help them. School children seldom reach the ninth grade and most end up working in family farms. Since the people have very low or no education, they lack basic knowledge of life skills like personal hygiene, household management, family planning and balancing budgets.
