Chris is a very bright youngster living in a very difficult situation. He resides with his parents, sister and thirteen other family members in Chris’ grandparents’ small home, sleeping on mats made out of straw. Chris’ mother takes care of the home and his father is a day laborer. Despite his challenging living arrangements, Chris has a positive outlook on life and loves school. His favorite subject is Math. He loves reading books and playing basketball. Chris dreams of becoming a police officer one day. He attends AMG’s child and youth development center every Saturday and is grateful for that opportunity. Your sponsorship would mean so much to him and his family.

The Philippines is a country that consists of over 7,000 islands in Southeast Asia. It has many active volcanoes and its location and torrential rainfall means that several areas are prone to flooding, typhoons and cyclones. The majority of the population is Roman Catholic, but some people are superstitious and still practice animism. Poverty, alcoholism and widespread drug use plagues their communities. This has led to broken families and abandoned children. There are few consistent job opportunities as well, making it difficult for parents to provide for their families.
