Ed Marie is a quiet, timid, and loving girl living in the Philippines. She has four siblings. Her father is a construction worker, but has trouble feeding his five children. Ed Marie’s mother takes care of the children at home. Unfortunately, one of Ed Marie’s siblings has tuberculosis, and a large portion of the family income goes toward her medical bills. They frequently eat prepackaged noodles for dinner, and the children are wear torn clothes. This child desperately needs a sponsor to help with her basic needs. Through your faithful sponsorship, Ed Marie will be educated through the local AMG child and youth development center. There, she will receive medical assistance, nutritional meals, and biblical teaching. Thank you for changing this young girl’s life for the better.
Handumanan Child Development Center
The Handumanan Child Development Center works alongside a local church to meet the physical and spiritual needs of children in the community. Bible studies, Sunday School, worship, prayer meetings and youth camps take place at the church facilities. Center staff provide meals, tutoring, life skills training and educational support. Medical care is also available. The Bible is taught by the center staff to help children grow as disciples of Christ.
The Philippines is a country that consists of over 7,000 islands in Southeast Asia. It has many active volcanoes and its location and torrential rainfall means that several areas are prone to flooding, typhoons and cyclones. The majority of the population is Roman Catholic, but some people are superstitious and still practice animism. Poverty, alcoholism and widespread drug use plagues their communities. This has led to broken families and abandoned children. There are few consistent job opportunities as well, making it difficult for parents to provide for their families.
