Henry is a kind and motivated young boy living in Guatemala. His father has been unable to find permanent work due to a poor economy. His father makes what little money he can by working in the field. He often gets hired by other landowners and must spend six months away from the family. Henry has a rare allergic reaction to the sun, so he must wear a hat and special glasses to protect himself. Due to his condition, and because the area is primarily agricultural, Henry’s job opportunities will be very limited when he grows up. Henry has an interest in computers and given the right opportunities, he will do very well in life. Henry dreams of being a pilot. Through your generosity, Henry will be educated, fed and receive biblical teaching at the child development center. He will also be discipled and cared for by a loving staff. Thank you for making a lasting impact in this child’s life.
Filadelfia Child Development Center
The Filadelfia Child Development Center is an evangelical school that provides hope for children in the community. The center is part of the Centro American Evangelical Church. Everyday children receive a quality Christian education and nutritious meals. Throughout the week, children also hear solid Bible teaching and devotions led by the staff. The church also hosts events such as multiple holiday celebrations throughout the year in order to reach families for Christ.
Guatemala is the most populated country in Central America. The majority religion is Christianity and is primarily Roman Catholic. Families in Guatemala suffer from many difficult circumstances such as drug use, alcoholism, physical violence, broken homes, and malnourishment. Often children are forced to begin working at an early age. Many families are extremely poor, live in small dilapidated homes and don’t make enough to provide for their physical needs.
