Iskandar was raised in a Muslim family in Indonesia. At the age of 28, he became a Christian and realized Jesus brought peace and joy to his life in a way no one and nothing else could. Following his conversion, he realized he was called to be involved in ministry and attended a Bible school for pastoral training. While Iskandar has only been involved in ministry for a couple years, he is effectively ministering to the Christian and Islamic people in Indonesia as a church planter and pastor. Iskandar serves alongside his wife, Welianse, and their two children.

Indonesia is a predominately Muslim country in Southeast Asia. Many work as farmers, but due to the uncertain climate it’s difficult for them to maintain their crops. Other common occupations include construction workers, freelancers, and house cleaners. Many of the families are poor and do not have the funds to pay for medical treatment. Multiple families have to live together in the same house a lot of the time. Many parents lack a formal education and get married young. Domestic violence is also prominent and husbands are prone to leave their families.
