Joseph and Amy Haefs are preparing to serve with AMG International through the home office in Chattanooga, where Joseph will be working as Assistant Coordinator of Mission Adventures. Joseph will be planning and leading 7-10 short-term trips annually. This involves pre-field training with all of the team members, spiritual care of the team while on the field and post-field debriefing with the team members, helping them process everything they’ve experienced while serving in a foreign context. Joseph will also represent AMG at conferences, meetings, and churches. Amy looks forward to assisting at the home office, offering Spanish translation help as needed.

Peru is a culturally diverse country in South America. The majority of the population profess to be Christian, with the majority being Roman Catholic. Terrorism and social violence can be common in certain areas. Generally speaking, there is a lack of stable jobs and it is often difficult to find consistent work. Many fathers abandon their families, leaving them in challenging circumstances. Alcoholism, drug use, and gang violence are also prevalent in many communities.
