Kiattipoom is a patient, joyful and obedient little boy. He lives with his parents and two younger siblings. His parents are believed to be first generation immigrants from Laos. They have settled into a small farming village about twenty miles from the city of Nan. It is a poor village consisting of only Hmong people – immigrants from Laos. The last few years have been extremely tough on the family as poor weather conditions have resulted to bad crop yields. Kiattipoom’s family believe in ancestor worship. His parents are very grateful he has the opportunity to be a part of AMG. Your sponsorship would mean so much to them and will ensure he continues to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ at our child and youth development center.
Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country, and many people also believe in the spiritual realm. Children from poor families go to state-run schools where teaching is sub-standard. Their parents normally have little education and cannot be relied upon to help them. School children seldom reach the ninth grade and most end up working in family farms. Since the people have very low or no education, they lack basic knowledge of life skills like personal hygiene, household management, family planning and balancing budgets.
