Ron is a darling little boy. His father has a 10th grade education and his mother finished high school. She receives some income from her work as a housemaid. Ron’s father works in construction or driving a Pedi cab. His work is not steady so it is difficult to provide more than fish, rice and simple snacks for the family. They live in a dilapidated one-room house made of scrap materials. Water is fetched from a nearby artesian well. They have few possessions including: two small beds made of bamboo slots, scanty clothes, bedding, and a few eating utensils. Life is difficult for this family. Your sponsorship will give hope to Ron and his family. At the childcare center he will receive nutritious meals, medical care, a good education, and most importantly he will learn about the saving grace found only in Christ. Thank you for blessing Ron with this precious gift.
Handumanan Child Development Center
The Handumanan Child Development Center works alongside a local church to meet the physical and spiritual needs of children in the community. Bible studies, Sunday School, worship, prayer meetings and youth camps take place at the church facilities. Center staff provide meals, tutoring, life skills training and educational support. Medical care is also available. The Bible is taught by the center staff to help children grow as disciples of Christ.
The Philippines is a country that consists of over 7,000 islands in Southeast Asia. It has many active volcanoes and its location and torrential rainfall means that several areas are prone to flooding, typhoons and cyclones. The majority of the population is Roman Catholic, but some people are superstitious and still practice animism. Poverty, alcoholism and widespread drug use plagues their communities. This has led to broken families and abandoned children. There are few consistent job opportunities as well, making it difficult for parents to provide for their families.
