Rosenda is a sweet young girl living in Guatemala. She has two brothers. Her father is a farmer, and her mother takes care of the children at home. The family lives in Rosenda’s grandfather’s house, as they are saving to build their own home. Rosenda likes to play with dolls and is appreciative of the meals and other support she receives at the childcare center. They need the help of a sponsor so she can continue to receive an education, nutritional meals, and biblical teaching at no charge. Thank you for making such a huge impact.
Yalu Nim Jay Child Development Center
The Yalu Nim Jay Child Development Center began in response to a community affected by malnourishment. Children eat lunch each day as prepared by the staff. They also receive a general education as well as values formation and life skills training. The staff mentor and tutor children who need additional care. Lastly, children grow as disciples of Christ as the staff lead devotions, teach Bible classes, and lead in praise and worship.
Guatemala is the most populated country in Central America. The majority religion is Christianity and is primarily Roman Catholic. Families in Guatemala suffer from many difficult circumstances such as drug use, alcoholism, physical violence, broken homes, and malnourishment. Often children are forced to begin working at an early age. Many families are extremely poor, live in small dilapidated homes and don’t make enough to provide for their physical needs.
