In some places, radio seems to be a dying medium in the world of communication. The Internet and social media have taken the place of more “traditional” means of gathering information. However, radio is still reaching people for the Lord in ways other media cannot.

One example of this is in Cyprus, where AMG International operates a radio station reaching more than 20,000 people daily in an area that has a potential audience of close to 800,000. The station has been on the air for 26 years, and it is still producing fruit for the kingdom. It hosts a daily program where the Bible is read on the air in English and Greek, which listeners can access via the Internet and on smartphones. Each month the station sends out copies of the New Testament along with copies of the Jesus film to all those who request them.

One of the radio hosts has started two different Bible studies in listeners’ homes, and both have grown. One has eight members, and another twelve, and all the participants have come to know the Lord through the radio ministry. One listener says she would have never come to faith in Christ had it not been for the radio station, and she has since introduced another four people to her local church. Through your partnership, this ministry is not only creating new believers, but also new missionaries!

However, the radio station is facing many challenges as it continues to share the gospel with those who desperately need to hear it. They have had various programs shut down due to a lack of funding. Many of the national leaders operating the station are volunteering their time as they struggle to make ends meet. Because we don’t have a large team, many of the staff work seven days a week to keep programs on the air as they are committed to seeing God’s kingdom grow in Cyprus.

AMG’s national leaders continue to serve the station faithfully, even during this uncertain time. Now, more than ever, in the midst of the global crisis we are facing, media evangelism and this radio ministry are able to reach those who need to hear the truth of the gospel and receive a peace that surpasses all understanding. As people in and around Cyprus are cooped up in their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have the opportunity to reach many of them with the Good News, as they are more attentive to radio programs.

Please pray that the Lord would move in people’s hearts to financially support this radio ministry, as we comfort those facing uncertainty and fear by spreading the gospel through quality radio programing in Cyprus, Uganda and Indonesia. And pray also that more people will tune into our stations and be drawn to God by what they hear over the airwaves. Together, we can meet the deepest spiritual and physical needs of our communities by using the tools the Lord has given us for such a time as this.
